Naek Tigor Sinaga : Economic Growth of NTT is Higher than National’s – Economic growth in East Nusa Tenggara Province in 2017 slowed by 5, 16% year on year, slightly lower and slower when compared to economic growth in 2016 at 6, 17%. Nevertheless the economic growth rate is slightly larger than the national’s

“Our economic growth in the province of NTT according to economic studies in 2017 slightly slowed when compared to the year 2016 is less at 5.17%, while in 2017 only amounted to 5.16% but what is very encouraging is that the growth is relatively higher compared to the national’s growth, “said Head of Representative of Bank Indonesia NTT, Naek Tigor Sinaga related to economic and regional studies of NTT Province in the fourth quarter of 2017 to the Press in Kupang,

Tigor explained the trend of economic movement of NTT from previous years where in 2014 the economic growth of NTT showed 5.5%. While in the last four years the NTT economy has always perched above the national economic growth namely 5.16% compared to 5.07%

According to Naek Tigor Sinaga, consumption indicators consisting of household consumption, non-profit households organization and the government all showed an increase in growth. Similarly to the formation of gross domestic fixed capital (PMTB) investment. Nevertheless, an increase in PMTB or investment and consumption in line with increased imports of capital goods and consumption, both domestically and abroad, caused the NTT Province GRDP to be eroded and the economy unable to grow higher than the previous year. He is optimistic the economic growth of NTT will be better from time to time.

One of the problems for NTT province is, the import value of goods needs of people from outside NTT is still very high than the value of exports. As an archipelagic region, the NTT economy is triggered by inter-regional trade factors in Indonesia

“The real economic growth of NTT is higher but every growth is always linear with the growth of goods imported from outside NTT. For example the production of materials of building materials we must bring from outside NTT. Unlike other areas such as in Java which has many factories and their export value is quite high. This also happens from the agricultural sector such as rice, onions, red chili and others still we bring from outside NTT. So we need to encourage efforts to build public awareness to increase agricultural production, “he said.

In terms of local government finances, the realization of government revenue at the end of the year reached Rp. 27.16 Trillion or 102.38% of the total annual target of Rp. 26.52 trillion. Meanwhile, the realization of APBN revenues from the Central Government in NTT Province is the highest at 874,71% or RP. 2.60 Trillion is mainly obtained from Income Tax (PPh). On the other hand, the realization of government spending reached Rp. 33.55 trillion or 89.31% of the total annual expenditure budget of RP.37.57 trillion higher than the achievement at the end of 2016 by 87.11%.(tim /42na)
